About Charlotte

I have two sons, Christopher and James, a daughter Florence and my partner Matt. From an early age the amazing process that our bodies go through each cycle and throughout Pregnancy and Birth fascinated me. My time carrying both Christopher, James and Florence was wonderful and a great learning experience. Christophers birth was positive and empowering and James and Florences births at home were truly amazing. Each one taught me new things and gave me greater understanding.

Following Christophers birth I felt more and more of a pull to work in the area of Menstrual Health and Childbirth, and have had some training as a Child Birth Educator and attended a Doula information session with Paramana Doula in London which was led by Michel Odent familiarly known as the obstetrician who introduced the concept of birthing pools and home like birthing rooms.

I set up the homebirth group in 2005 so local women would have the opportunity to meet like-minded women and have easy access to unbiased information. So often people say, am I allowed to have a homebirth? Or will they let me do this or that? I am particularly keen to promote awareness amongst women that they do have choice in what happens to them and their baby and to help them find the information and organisations they need to make their own informed choices, to trust their own instincts and have faith in their bodys ability to birth their baby.

Having looked after the group for over four years I felt it was time to pass the baton and move onto new things. I am delighted that Claire Bushell has taken over. I am sure she will breathe new life into the group and take it forward reaching even more women. I am pleased to still be of service to the group, maintaining the website and being a local contact should anyone like to talk to me.
